01/07/2006 - Voice over Broadband (VoIP) Launched

Allegro's VoIP service is now available to Allegro's SOHO broadband customers. Allegro's goal is to provide a high quality VoIP service that will deliver reliably and at rates lower than standard calls. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) is a technology that delivers voice calls over the Internet rather than the traditional PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network). Allegro's VoIP is unique in the fact that the VoIP traffic passes through Allegro's own network, meaning the quality of service Allegro's VoIP delivers is second to none. Allegro's VoIP is designed to drastically reduce customers' phone bills and at call quality indistinguishable from a standard telephone service.

01/06/2006 - Private Layer 2 Services Available POA

For business users that wish to link multiple sites, Allegro has launched its Metro Ethernet Layer 2 (MEL2) private links. These MEL2 links can be bridged between or from PowerTel On-Net DSL links to our wireless services and are ideal for serious inter-site connectivity. MEL2 links enjoy a completely un-contended end to end data pipe with no data limits. MEL2 links are completely private and as such have a much higher level of security when compared to VPNs that run over the internet.

13/05/2006 - Ted Pretty Joins Allegro

Ted Pretty, the eight-year Telstra veteran and right-hand man of former Telstra chief Ziggy Switkowski has agreed to become chairman for Allegro Networks. Mr Pretty said the primary focus needs to be on the small business community with the number one priority being able to gain a footprint from the Tweed to the Sunshine coast, moving into resort and rental properties.
